SITTING ON STEELMUSCLESSitting on Steel Muscles is a low lounge chair that condenses anobservation and critique of power relations and clichés in craft. Its metal skeleton is treated like fabric by a tailor: steel sheets are carefully cut and welded into patterns, while the seating area is woven directly onto the frame, turning the structure itself into a loom. The seams, like scars, reveal the labor and care behind the craftsmanship. By disrupting the familiar polished surface—not from laziness but deliberately—the chair challenges both visually and conceptually the smooth, flawless layer often imposed on objects, highlighting the tension between material, process, and perception.
