sculpture SHAPE SHIFTERThe Shape Shifter deals with the cultivation of the body through fitness culture and questions the obsession with an “ideal” set by society. The gym has become a factory-like space that traps people in an endless cycle of permanent performative acts of self-realization. This project questions whether exercise can become a creative statement rather than a numb obsession. The Shape Shifter machine keeps the body in a loop of repetitive, pre-scripted movements. Engaging with it sets in motion a cycle of relational dynamics that fuses man and machine into one. Training ceases to be a spectacle of the body and becomes a spectacle of action.
